With the widespread use of aftermarket components and tuning now popular on diesel trucks, blown head gaskets are becoming the standard and not the exception. The increased performance of these trucks are putting additional stress on OEM components that weren't designed to handle it.
With horsepower ratings easily leaping over the 600 HP mark on the 6.6L Duramax, extreme protection is needed to ensure the cylinder heads can hold the increased combustion pressures created by performance injectors, turbos, and tuning upgrades. The 625+ head stud kits offer 260,000 psi of clamping force and are used on competition trucks at the highest levels.
We have installed the ARP 625+ series studs on plenty of 6.6L Duramax motors that make over 800HP and have never had an issue directly related to the failure of these components. Note! We highly recommend replacing your cylinder heads during this repair due to the high likelihood that the surface of the existing head is not flat. This will compromise the functionality of the head studs!
