It is common knowledge that the 2003-2007 6.0L Powerstroke suffers from issues with head gasket failure. Whatever the cause may be, the proven solution begins with getting rid of the factory head bolts and installing the ARP head studs. These 425+ head studs are good for stock to lightly modified engines and will offer protection from the lifting forces of higher combustion pressures.
We have installed the ARP 425+ Head Studs on literally thousands of vehicles and have yet to see a head gasket failure that could be attributed to an issue with the studs. They are the starting point for a good head gasket repair or performance build on the 2003-2007 6.0L Powerstroke platform. We HIGHLY recommend replacing the cylinder heads at the time of repair, especially on trucks with more than 75,000 miles due to the likelihood that the mating surface of the head is not flat. This can compromise the effectiveness of the head studs and cause future issues with blown head gaskets.
If you are building a 6.0L with a target HP of more than 625, check out these ARP 625+ Head Studs for much better protection at or over this HP rating
